Dr Michael Hughes trained at Cambridge and London and undertook a Fellowship in Cancer Imaging at the Marsden Hospital before being appointed as a Consultant Radiologist at Salisbury in 2005.

His major clinical interests are in Cancer and Breast Radiology. He has a wide experience in all modalities of breast imaging and participates in the NHS Breast screening program at Southampton. Dr Hughes has helped to expand the symptomatic breast service at Salisbury with the development of Breast MRI and vacuum assisted breast biopsy. He also has extensive experience in ultrasound guided prostate biopsy and prostate MRI.

Dr Hughes is involved in regular teaching of medical students and Radiology trainees.
