What happens once I have been referred?

Once your doctor has referred you to us, we will check all your details and that the most appropriate investigation has been requested. We will then contact you and arrange a convenient time for you to visit.

What clothing should I wear for my appointment?

You can wear anything you like, but for most investigations you will be asked to remove clothing, or to get changed into a gown. It is usually best to wear loose clothing, or clothing that can be removed quickly and comfortably.

What should I expect when I come for a scan or X-ray?

This really depends on the type of scan in question. Your referring doctor should give you some information about what to expect, but if you have any questions or particular concerns then please contact us using the enquiries form.

Claustrophobic patients – MRI scans

If you are very claustrophobic then you may find having an MRI scan difficult. Our staff are trained in helping you through the experience of having a scan and providing reassurance during your time in the MRI scanner. However, if you think that you won’t be able to tolerate an MRI scan then please tell your referring clinician, or get in contact with us as soon as possible. We are not able to provide sedation on the day of the scan.

Claustrophobic people do not find CT scans, or other imaging investigations, difficult.
